Vonage VS SunRocket



The following is my experience with these two VOIP companies through logs I kept. I will continue to update this page until my phone service is restored so check back again to see the progress.

March 4th Signed up with Vonage
March 7th Finished LOA for number transfer
March 13th No adaptor yet called to find out status was told was on backorder shipped out that day DHL.
March 16th adaptor arrived USPS but no service called tech support unable to resolve was given trouble ticket.
March 17th Fixed can now make and receive calls on temperary "virtual" number.
April   3rd Called about transfer was told checking into it and the letter was recieved from Comcast on March 23rd.
April 12th Problems with Comcast. Only selected calls are coming through.
April 14th Called Comcast got massive run around finally someone says the number was transfered to Broadwing on the 11th.
Called Vonage says they don't know who Broadwing is but will escalate call to transfer dept.
Called Broadwing say they have number ported to their system and they do handle number porting for Vonage but they are waiting for Vonage to give them info so they can route number through them.
Called tech suport and they state that a request for finalization was sent again and will take several more days until finished. So I am unable to recieve any calls until then. a total loss due to the weekend of at least 7 days of incomming service.
Sent e-mail to billing Dept asking them why am I paying for this service
April 19th Still no incoming calls. 8 days total with no incoming.
Called Vonage automated says transfer was completed on April 18th. Talked to technical support and said was still waiting on finalizing and was told should hear something in 3 hours.
Well all I got was an e-mail (form letter) stating it will take 2-3 more days.
April   21st Called again for status was told systems where down (11:20am) and they couldn't access info right now.
April 22nd Same shit different day. All they can do is resend the ticket and tell me to wait.
April 23rd Received e-mail saying it will take a few more days to fix the porting of the number.
April 24th 13 days no incoming on old number.
April 25th 14 days no incoming. Virtual number seems to be hit and miss now.
April 26th 15 days no incoming
April 27th They still have no idea as to where my number is or when it'll be finished. Kerrie at customer support did say that there was no reason for it to have taken this long and I should call back Monday if it isn't fixed by then.
May   16th Was transfered to escalation dept. hould have been an update by April 23rd. System states incomplete port without reason. Will be sending ticket 4281502 directly to manager. Will credit for 1 month of service.
May 18th Just received e-mail saying that my LOA was accepted AGAIN and it will take at least 20 days to complete, this is totally unacceptable.. Called and told was working on it still. Agent added to ticket that I have been without my incoming service since April 11th.
May 19th Called again and was told that my number was in the que for service and should be worked on by Tues May 23rd.
May 23rd Talked to escalations dept again and they still have no clue on why or when it will be done. Was given direct line to Number Portability Department 866-496-6359 and was told to call between 9am and 5pm EST. Unfortunately it is after 5pm now.
May 24th Phone number finally works. 43 days total with no incoming calls. Now to see how long before they release number to SunRocket.
May   31st Asked if they ever received LOA from Sunrocket and they were unable to verify the request. After they realized that I was switching services they quickly responded "we can't help you on this" and hungup.
June 29th Sent letter to Vonage asking why my transfer request kept being denied even though the information was copied from the LOA that was filed with them when they transfered my number from Comcast.
June 30th Got e-mail back telling me that SunRocket must request the transfer from their 3rd party partner and not from them. Information was forwarded to SunRocket.
July     6th Called Vonages 3rd party Broadwing to see if I can get any information on my phone number. They say they can not give me any information on the status if they ever received a transfer request or what the customer information is on the number. Filed complaints with the FCC and BBB today.
July   17th Filed online CSR request for account information using my name and number as the LEC on Broadwings site www.broadwing.com/sr/.
July   18th Called Broadwing and was told to Contact Michele Lott the Supervisor of portouts. Left voicemail. Decided to file on-line CSR request for account information acting as if I was a phone company.
July   20th Recieved e-mail from Broadwing with current billing information. They used my wifes name instead of mine. Submitted this information to SunRocket.
July   27th Got an e-mail from the Attorney Generals office with Vonages reply which was the number was under my wifes name and not mine. Why couldn't they just tell me this in the first place?
Aug 10th Vonage line is now dead and the number is transfered to SunRocket. Now comes trying to cancel my account with Vonage. Stay tuned.

April 22nd Signed up and started LNP process.
April 26th Recieved e-mail saying order has been shipped. It took 2 weeks and a call before Vonage did this
April 27th Called tech support and gave May 15th as transfer date for phone. Had to call since no one at Vonage or Broadwing knew where my number was. Aparently they are a lot quicker than I thought and must have already started the process. "Gizmo" should be here tomorrow.
April 28th Adaptor and dual cordless phones arrive. Plugged in "Gizmo" and everything worked right off the bat. Was able to make and recieve calls without having to call tech support
May   16th Called to check on transfer status and was told they have received no response from Vonage and the transfer was stalled until then.
May 24th Called and told them that Vonage finally finished the porting of my old number and maybe they should resend the order to Vonage.
May 31st Called and explained that Vonage has no record of request to transfer number. CSR said they will escalate to next higher level to find out why.
June   7th Talked to Mark and was told that Vonage says my name does not match the information I put into the SunRocket LOA and they are refusing transfer because of this. I verified it does match and will send copies to SunRocket today.
June 14th Was told same thing that name does not match date was June 7th. Appears there has been no update to the system. Ticket# 1000623926. Resent information to numbertranfer@sunrocket.com
June 19th Sent e-mail to numbertransfer, carrie.barr, and cathy.grant with the issues I am having with my number transfer. Recieved e-mail from Carrie Barr saying they will resubmit my transfer to Vonage and will keep me informed via e-mail.
June 29th Called support and was told there has been no response yet from Vonage since the transfer request was resubmitted. The target transfer date is July 11th if Vonage responds ok.
June 30th Forwarded information from Vonages e-mail to SunRocket that they have to contact 3rd party partner of Vonage.
July   5th Carrie Barr wrote: We resubmitted your order on 6/19. To date we have not received a status. I understand what Vonage is stating and would like to add the discrepancy is the information Vonage has on your number and the information their 3rd party vendor has. Once that is corrected, there should be no problem transferring your number to SunRocket.
July   6th Wrote back to Carrie asking how the discrepancy was going to be fixed and who was suppose to fix it. Respose: It is up to Vonage to contact their 3rd party to fix the errors.
July   8th Received e-mail stating that Vonage has to contact the underlying service provider to make the corrections.
July 20th Forwarded information from Broadwing to SunRocket on account information to transfer, member services, and Carrie Barr.
July 21st Received e-mail from Carrie Barr stating that another request for transfer was resent with the new information I got from Broadwing.
July 26th Received e-mail stating another ticket was issued to the porting department.
Aug 10th Received e-mail stating that the transfer date for my phone was today. Checked my Vonage line and it was dead. Called my old Vonage number and it rang to my SunRocket. Hurray Vonage is dead.
